CGIAR Initiative on One Health publishes 2022 annual technical report

The CGIAR Initiative on One Health has published its 2022 annual technical report, highlighting research activities and results from its five work packages as well as partnerships, country and regional engagement, and synergies among the portfolio’s constituent parts.
The report also demonstrates the initiative’s progress against the theory of change towards end-of-initiative outcomes. Among the key results are 46 knowledge outputs and 6 innovation development outputs.
The CGIAR Initiative on One Health aims to show how a One Health approach – which recognizes the interconnections between people, animals and their shared environment – can help manage zoonotic diseases, improve food and water safety, and reduce antimicrobial resistance, leading to better human, animal and environment health.
Key result story for 2022 • The burden of foodborne illness from eating unsafe food poses a threat to the health of the East African Community’s 300 million inhabitants. The International Livestock Research Institute, in partnership with the Inter-University Council for East Africa, has developed undergraduate food safety curriculum benchmarks toward building the capacity of the region’s food safety professionals to ensure the production and sale of safe food and, ultimately, improved health and food security.
