COP 27 Event: Towards Energy Efficient Buildings in the Mediterranean Region – Union for the Mediterranean – UfM

Sharm El-Sheikh, 7 November 2022 – The Union for the Mediterranean is co-organizing a “Mediterranean Pavillion” in the COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh. As part of this Mediterranean Pavillion, the event “Towards Energy Efficient Buildings in the Mediterranean Region”, will be held in the margins of the COP27 Mediterranean Pavilion. This event will present the PEEB Med and MeetMED II regional programmes which are funded by the European Commission for a decarbonized and resilient built environment. The event which will take place in Sharm El-Sheikh on 7 November 2022, is co-organsied by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), PEEB (AFD/GIZ) and meetMED II (ADEME/RECREEE/MEDENER).
The event will contribute to the implementation of UfM Strategic Urban Development Action Plan. It will follow-up to the two meetings of the UfM Working Group on Affordable and Sustainable Housing, the “UfM Meeting on Sustainability, Energy Efficiency, Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience in Housing”, co-organized with the Programme for Energy Efficiency in Buildings (PEEB) Secretariat in Barcelona on 27-28 June 2019, the workshop “Natural cooling: an indispensable element of future-oriented housing policies and projects in hot climates”, co-organised with the PEEB Secretariat and the City Climate Finance Gap Fund online on 22 March 2021, and the “Multi-Regional Workshop on Energy Efficiency in Buildings”, co-organised with the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda of Spain and the European Union (NEAR C3) in Madrid on 5-7 July 2022.
