Lebanon Export Academy: Supporting Lebanese companies to reach international markets

Feb 08 2022

As part of the Productive Sectors Development Program, Berytech has launched the Lebanon Export Academy with a program specifically designed to help agri-food businesses set their export plans and reach international markets.

The academy’s main goal is to support local MSMEs and Cooperatives in the Agriculture and Agri-food sectors amidst the Lebanon economic and financial crisis. It is the country’s first export training center and online academy, and its focus in the first phase is to enable at least 70 MSMEs, 40 of which are women-led enterprises to improve their export readiness and assist them in reaching foreign markets therefore contributing to job creation and the country’s economic growth.

The Lebanon Export Academy, hosted at Berytech, is part of the Productive Sectors Development Program, a 3-year program funded through the generous contribution of the Government of Canada and implemented by 6 UN agencies (UNIDO, FAO, UNDP, ILO, UNWOMEN & UNICEF) under the overall coordination of RCO.

There will be three training packages and over ten courses available to address the issues that Lebanese businesses face when pursuing exporting. Courses are designed to be accessible to a wide range of audiences from various backgrounds. Depending on their needs, enterprises can subscribe to course bundles or take specific courses. Online and in-person courses will be available, as for self-paced courses, they will be accessible for busy professionals to learn at their own pace.

You are encouraged to apply to the Export Training center and Online Academy trainings if you are an established MSME or Cooperative registered in Lebanon with at least three employees, working in the agri-food manufacturing and agriculture sectors within specific value chains identified as having potential for growth and have product that can potentially be exported.

You can also apply as a trainer if you have at least three years of hands-on experience in one of the following export development or promotion topics: Export Readiness, Market Intelligence, Export Financing & Financial Management, Quality Requirements and Standards, Export Procedures, Freight and logistics, Export Marketing, Branding & Positioning. Additional requirements are to have the ability to communicate effectively in English and Arabic, a bachelor’s degree in economics, business, trade, marketing, law or agri-food related field, and at least 5 to 8 years of practical working experience in delivering business related courses.
