Nov 03 2022

As a continuation of the Policy Dialogue Series which is part of the upscaling of nexus farms project in Egypt, on 24 October, the second policy dialogue event took place in Cairo. This dialogue was dedicated to financial challenges as key barrier towards implementation and upscaling of the nexus farms in Egypt. The event gathered representatives from Ministry of International cooperation, UNDP, UNIDO, Central Bank of Egypt, the Egyptian Banking Institute, Agriculture Bank of Egypt, Faisal Islamic Bank, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, GIG Egypt and Care Egypt.

During the event, challenges faced by farmers with main focus on the lack of access to funds and financial support have been explained to the financial stakeholders, then each stakeholder proposed the available solutions and eligibility requirements and how farmers can adapt to benefit from them. In the coming events of the policy dialogue series, these outcomes will be shared with farmers along with relevant stakeholders to get their feedback. This stakeholders’ engagement is a step towards building strong network between farmers and financial institutions to overcome the faced financial challenges.
