The SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST (COMMERCIALIZATION AND BUSINESS) will work with the Project Team Lead to set up the ecosystem for adoption of biofortified grains in the MDM initiative of the government. The Supply Chain Manager (Commercialization and Business) will be responsible for overall coordination, planning, development, and management of public, private and development sector stakeholders across the supply chain. Interested applicants must have work authorization to work in India.
Full coverage for high priority districts in collaboration with government and other non-profits.
Aggregating traceable supply of millet through clustered farmer producer groups, and market links with school feeding procurement system.
Expansion in high priority districts through commercial linkages and government support.
Coordinate with research partners on effectiveness studies if needed
The Supply Chain Specialist (Commercialization and Business) will report to the Project Team Lead to set up the whole ecosystem for adoption of biofortified grains in the MDM initiative of the government and will be working in close collaboration with the HarvestPlus team on activities including but not limited to:
Coordinate the setting up the supply chain for all the targeted geographies for project (iron pearl millet and zinc wheat)
Identifying Value Chain actors and discuss business models to associate with the initiative
Create reporting and monitoring protocols in collaboration with the project team and HP experts
Assist with engaging Private Sector Seed and Input companies to set up the supply chains across states
Assist in managing stakeholders across the value chain
Work with farmer producer companies for Seed Production and Grain Production
Regularly track, identify, and process opportunities relevant to HarvestPlus
Bachelor’s degree in Agri Business, Marketing or Finance plus 5 years of relevant work experience. Master’s degree in Agri Business, Marketing or Finance plus 3 years of relevant work experience.
Demonstrated experience of engaging with the government and private sector stakeholders and collaborators
Substantial experience of creating standard operating procedures and conducting trainings
Experience of working with stakeholders across the supply chain
Strong understanding of supply chain operations and coordination
Fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience in working with International NGOs or development sector organizations
Experience working in pearl millet and wheat supply chains
Experience working in geographies like UP, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana
Employee will sit in an upright position for a long period of time
Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing computer terminal; extensive reading.
The project will reach two million children with biofortified food products every school day to combat high levels of micronutrient deficiency, and provide a policy, institutional and private sector roadmap to scale the approach through the national program which reaches over 100 million students. It will enable improvements in farm incomes by strengthening forward and backward market linkages and expanding technical assistance across two value chains – iron pearl millet and zinc wheat. It will enable economies of scale through facilitating aggregation, partnerships with lead firms in school feeding supply chains and industry coordination. It will engage with public and private sector stakeholders to drive greater investment in high potential product lines. The project will ensure women have every opportunity to be integrated in market led activities such as extension and training, value addition, processing and access to resilience supporting technologies.
HarvestPlus (HP) is seeking a SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST (COMMERCIALIZATION AND BUSINESS) who will anchor the implementation of a new project “Addressing Micronutrient Deficiencies Through Mid-Day Meals Programs in India”. The project is being implemented with funding from the Happel Foundation and the states of focus include Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka

The Supply Chain Manager (Commercialization and Business) will be responsible for overall coordination, planning, development, and management of a public, private and development sector stakeholders across the supply chain.
This position is a one-year appointment and is renewable contingent upon continued satisfactory performance and program funding.
