INCLUSIVE DIGITAL CO-CREATION IN RESILIENT AGRI-FOOD SYSTEMS
Involving women is key – Opportunities for gender-responsive digital solutions
The webinar will present the lessons learned from AID-2021 CSB’s implementation and host a panel discussion on potential areas for improvement, collective engagement, and cooperation among governments, UN agencies, civil society, and the private sector to scale human rights-based technology co-design, with a particular focus on the role of women and marginalized groups in technology co-design vis-à-vis Germany’s emerging Feminist Foreign Policy.
Luise Amtsberg, Special Envoy for Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid, German Federal Foreign Office
Funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and in close collaboration with ICARDA, HiveTracks, and icipe, the AI-Driven Climate-Smart Beekeeping (AID-CSB) project works to bridge the digital gender divide by using a human rights-based approach to the development of The Beekeeper’s Companion – an application for beekeepers. Working with female beekeepers across Ethiopia and Uzbekistan, the project’s gender-responsive approach addresses barriers to meaningful participation. It empowers women to increase their livelihoods in a planet-positive economic activity.
